Intermediate Interior Designer

INTERMEDIATE INTERIOR DESIGNER

CKDESIGN Licensed Interior Design, an award winning commercial design firm specializing in Alberta’s best restaurant and corporate environments since 2008. The firm is led by Chris K. – a Ryerson University Graduate and Licensed Interior Designer with over 20 years of experience in Alberta and over 1,400 completed projects globally. 

Reporting to the Principal and Senior Designer, the Intermediate Interior Designer will be responsible for supporting activities of the Design team. This includes working to produce the market’s most accurate CAD drawings and project documentation according to strict CKDESIGN CAD standards. A meticulous attention to design details and a passion for CAD excellence is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare working drawings on CAD (30 hrs/week min) and specifications for tender using strict CKDESIGN standards;
  • Space planning, conceptual design and research materials/finishes as required;
  • Ability to perform site verification, site measurements, furniture inventory and equipment inventory;
  • Manage client relationship, client communication and client satisfaction;
  • Interface and communicate in meetings, presentations and site visits;
  • Conduct tender calls, prepare addenda, interpret comments from contractors and prepare tender analysis;
  • Mentoring and supporting junior design team members.
  • Minimum degree completed in Commercial Interior Design and LID ready;
  • Minimum three (3) years of design experience in a boutique office, leading commercial (non-institutional) projects – including the applicable technical CAD drawings;
  • Proficiency in CAD (REVIT an asset);
  • Excellent freehand sketching of design and millwork details on trace paper or other mediums;
  • A Meticulous attention to detail;
  • “A TYPE” team player attitude, strong work ethics and willingness to learn;
  • Ability to Multitask and prioritize projects;
  • Excellent knowledge of design documentation, detailing, building materials and the AB Building Code;
  • Excellent written and oral communications;
  • Excellent SketchUp skills.
