Session Two Overview

March 22, 2023 | 12:00 – 1:30 pm | Healthy Materials Method Cards
IDCEC Approved for 1.5 General CEU

Part presentation, part Q&A, the Healthy Materials Lab will give an overview presentation about their research and programs and take a deep dive into their practice tool-- the HML Method Cards.

The Healthy Materials Lab is a design research lab at Parsons School of Design. They are dedicated to a world in which people’s health is placed at the center of all design decisions. The lab is committed to raising awareness about toxic chemicals in building products and to creating resources for designers and architects to make healthier places for all people to live.

Learning Objectives

This session will cover:

  • Understand the relationships between human health, building materials, chemical toxicity, and environmental exposures and the health and environmental impacts that building products can have throughout their life cycle.
  • Recognize and develop criteria for a framework of healthier materials in your practice
  • Understand the process of selecting healthier products, assess variables and constraints, and make more informed decisions.
  • Adopt Material Method cards as a tool to assist and help implement material health into everyday design practice
